Prefere Resins is a leading European manufacturer of phenolic, specialty urea and melamine resins. We also produce high-quality derivatives of methanol-(C1)-chemistry from such as paraformaldehyde, formaldehyde, and hexamethylene tetramine. Technical Service Manager – Construction and Insulation (m/f/d)

The position is located in Erkner (Germany) and reports to our Commercial Managers Construction and Insulation.

About the job

  • Main contact person for our customers regarding all technical and product-related matters
  • Works closely with customers to understand their needs and translates these needs into product specifications
  • Works together with the Commercial and Sales Manager(s) in order to increase Prefere Resins’ sales volume and value added
  • Works closely together with Prefere’s Technology, Production and Quality Control to improve processability of current products, evaluate customer complaints, and scale-up newly formulated products
  • Guides development of new tests and techniques
  • Evaluates product issues, performs root cause analysis at customers and within Prefere Resins’ laboratories, identifies potential solutions, and implements corrective actions
  • Presents Prefere Resins at conferences and customer presentations
  • Has a good understanding of our customers’ industries and applications
  • Has good contact to machinery producers and additive suppliers

About you

  • Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science or Vocational Training in a relevant field (e.g. laboratory technician) combined with relevant work experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a technical service role in the chemical industry
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands on experience in the production and sales of resins preferably phenolic resins
  • Excellent knowledge of resins and binders – proficient knowledge of their industrial application areas is an advantage
  • Be able to gather and understand business requirements and translate it into technical specifications
  • Skilled at working effectively in cross functional teams in a matrix organization
  • Must be able to work independently with demonstrated skills in project planning and execution
  • Must be willing to travel min. 50% of time (both domestic & international)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills combined with a hands-on attitude
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Fluent in German and in English (verbally and written)
